Event Highlights
- Participate in a live prescribed burn
- Learn how to plan a burn on your own land
- Gain knowledge of burn permits, smoke management, fire weather, liability laws, and available financial resources
- Practice with a drip torch and other tools of the trade
- Ask questions of experienced professionals
Participant Requirements
- Introductory-level event, ideal for those with little or no prescribed fire experience
- Must sign a hold-harmless liability waiver on the day of the event
- Expect to walk on uneven ground and actively use tools
- Wear natural-fiber pants and shirts (cotton, linen, silk, or wool) and leather boots
- Bring eye protection, leather gloves, a bandana, water bottle, and sunscreen
